Fabricated swage locked grating from IKG® is constructed from aluminum in a wide selection of styles for many applications. Standard panels are available in 2- or 3-ft widths by 24-ft long (span) and can also be fabricated to any size. Our team of project managers and engineering staff are on hand to advice on material, finishes and coatings to meet your exact project specifications. Plus, swage locked grating can be easily modified on site during installation.

Swage Locked Construction

The key to fabricated swage locked grating is in its automated construction. Cross bars and bearing bars are permanently locked in place during the manufacturing process. This prevents the bars from turning and results in a sturdy, durable, economical product.

Applications

Fabricated swage locked grating is made from aluminum, is corrosion resistant, light weight, strong and provides a smooth safe surface. These attributes make IKG’s aluminum swage locked grating ideal for applications near water such as water and wastewater treatment plants, walkways near fountains or streams, and water parks. It also has many applications in heavy industry such as paper mills, distribution centers and warehouses and can help cities and municipalities meet ADA compliance. The lightweight construction and tight mesh also make it ideal for uses such as sunscreens.

Rectangular Bar

Rectangular Bar Swage Locked Grating provides all the strength of aluminum pressure locked grating at a slightly lower cost. The cross bars, hydraulically swaged under tons of pressure, lock the bearing bars in place, providing high strength and rigidity in a light weight. This virtually maintenance-free grating is frequently used in waste water treatment applications. Available in plain and serrated surface or may be ordered with Aluminum MEBAC® slip resistant surface.

BS – (S-19-4)

The BS product is approved for all general purposes with bearing bars on 1-3/16-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers.

DS – (S-15-4)

The DS product has close 15/16-in. bearing bar centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers. Best for heavy public traffic, or where smaller openings or increased carrying capacity is required.

FS – (S-19-2)

The FS product is for general purposes with bearing bars on 1-3/16-in. centers and cross bars on 2-in. centers for conditions where more steel area is required.

DFS – (S-15-2)

The DFS product has close 15/16-in. bearing bar centers and cross bars on 2-in. centers for conditions requiring greatly reduced net openings.

Close Mesh – Rectangular Bar

Many cities and municipalities rely on close mesh swage locked grating to satisfy ADA compliance. The construction of close mesh grating creates a firm, rigid connection with aesthetic appeal that lends itself to many architectural applications. In addition, the narrow spacing on this strong, durable grating provides air passage when ventilation is required above or below the grating. 

SCM4 - (S-11-4)

The SCM4 product has bearing bars spaced 11/16-in. on center and cross bars spaced 4-in. on center. Provides larger open area for use where more ventilation is required beneath the grating. Satisfies maximum ½-in. clear opening as required by the ADA, if bearing bars have 3/16-in. thickness.

SCMF4 – (S-11-2)

The SCMF4 product has bearing bars spaced 11/16-in. on center and cross bars spaced 2-in. on center. Provides larger open area for use where more ventilation is required beneath the grating. Satisfies maximum 1/2-in. clear opening as required by the ADA, if bearing bars have 3/16-in. thickness. Bearing bars are 1-3/16-in. on center.

I-Bar

This is the lightest weight, lowest cost aluminum grating in our product line. Its high strength, slip-resistant bearing bars and low cost make this grating an excellent choice when economy is a major factor. It is available in a wide selection of styles and can be custom cut for your project.

IB – (S-19-4)

The IB product is approved for all general purposes with bearing bars on 1-3/16-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers.

IF – (S-19-2)
