Fabricated Weldforged® grating panels from IKG® feature welded carbon steel or stainless-steel construction. These panels provide a durable, strong, yet lightweight surface for many applications. Produced in-house at IKG’s state-of-the-art fabrication centers, fabricated Weldforged grating panels can be custom fit to your specific projects.
Fabricated Weldforged® grating panels are available in plain and serrated surface as well as with MEBAC® slip-resistant surface. Standard carbon steel panels are available in mill finish, hot dip galvanized or our exclusive GrateCoat® powder coat finish. Stainless steel is available in standard mill finish.
Weldforged Fabrication Process
IKG is one of the few grating companies to continually invest in its manufacturing process. This includes the most up-to-date equipment, latest generation welding machines and associated power substations. IKG innovation does not stop with the equipment but also the process itself. The result is one of the strongest grating materials on the market today.
Standard Weldforged grating stock panels are available in 2- or 3-ft wide by 20- or 24-ft span. Fabricated Weldforged® grating panels can be custom manufactured on our “run-to-length” line and can be produced to almost any non-standard length to suit your exact application or end use. An added benefit is the decrease in material drop or waste compared to conventional methods.
Weldforged grating’s strength, light weight and dead load characteristics make it ideal for structures such as bridges.
Refineries, Chemical Plants
Weldforged grating is used in many industries where a strong grating is needed for walkways and work surfaces. The open grating also allows ventilation and airflow between levels for a safe working environment.
In addition to the ventilation benefits of Weldforged grating, it also allows heat dissipation from power plant turbans and boilers.
Weldforged grating is used in applications where a lightweight, serrated material is needed such as maintenance platforms and maintenance access, especially in inclined situations.

Weldforged grating provides a lightweight, strong material in tight restricted areas where space is at a premium. This includes catwalks, mezzanines, walkways and storage areas. Carbon & Stainless
WB – (W-19-4)
Approved for all general purposes, with bearing bars on 1-3/16″ centers and cross bars on 4″ centers. Most economical standard welded grating, with maximum standard opening for flow of air and liquids, and for heat and light transference.
WF – (W-19-2)
For general purposes with bearing bars on 1-3/16-in. centers and cross bars on 2-in. centers. Designed with reduced open area, where a more comfortable walking surface is a consideration, and enhanced lateral stability.
WD – (W-15-4)
With bearing bar on 15/16-in. centers and 4-in. centers on cross bars, WD is often utilized in areas of public use or where higher load capacity is required.
WDF – (W-15-2)
WDF has bearing bars on 15/16-in. centers and cross bars on 2-in. centers. This product is specified and recommended mostly in conditions where small net openings between bars are required.
Heavy Duty Grating
WC – (W-22-4)
The WC product is a Heavy Duty Weldforged® Grating with bearing bars on 1-3/8-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers.
WP – (W-30-4)
The WP product is a Heavy Duty Weldforged® Grating with bearing bars on 1-7/8-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers.
WL – (W-38-4)
The WL product is a Heavy Duty Weldforged® Grating with bearing bars on 2-3/8-in. centers and cross bars on 4-in. centers.
WCM4 – (W-11-4)
The WCM4 close mesh product has bearing bars spaced 11/16-in. on center and cross bars spaced 4-in. on center. This provides a larger open area for use where more ventilation is required beneath the grating. It satisfies the maximum ½-in. clear opening as required by the ADA, if the bearing bars have 3/16-in. thickness.
